'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 1'
22.03.2019 This is the next series of articles, this time dealing with 'Brahma Samhita'. The word 'Samhita' – in Sanskrit has many meanings like fixed, joined, attached,
connected with, composed of, or 'any methodically arranged collection of texts or verses'. In Vaisnava tradition the text we know was acquired by Lord Caitanya from Adi-Kesava Temple, South India, as only a 5th Chapter from the entire 'Brahma Samhita'.
Especially known part of this Samhita (from text 29 to 56) we used to chant during some occasions of a fire sacrifices like initiations, etc. (yet, not always known to us is the full meaning of the texts, really worth studying): '… govindam adi-pursam tam aham bhajami', 'I adore the primeval Lord Govinda...', in general it is the glorification of the Supreme Lord as Govinda and His creation, ending with the wonderful explanation of Svetadvipa transcendental seat: 'bhaje svetadvipam...', situated within this Material Universe and mystically nondifferent from the Spiritual World, '...where every tree is a transcendental purpose tree, where the soil is the purpose gem, all water is a nectar, every step is a dance and every word is a song... That realm is known as Goloka only to a very few 'Self-Realized' souls in this world.'
In this articles we will focus on “Sri Brahma Samhita” presented by the spiritual master of Srila Prabhupada, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakura, who was very knowledgeable and in some sense 'transcendentally abstract' in his works dealing with 'Spirituality'.
This new spiritual adventure is an inspiration to 'walk by' the text which gives us many informations about the Lord, His forms/incarnations, activities, devotional service, the highest goal, prayers, Vedic literature, creation and so one. We will look at it from the 'Self-Realization Perspective' (as my preparation for a book I am writing at present), to recognize/penetrate better the whole process we all are moving on/up gradually,... step by step...
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 2'
29.03.2019 My firs touch with this text was long before I joined ISKCON officially. It happened I bout a record with Srila Prabhupada's quite classical bhajans/ragas, where at the beginning of it Srila Prabhupada is reading the first lines of the Forward to 'Sri Brahma Samhita', where the author, Bhaktisiddhanta Satasvati Thakura with his eloquence writes [which I am trying to simplify/explain]:
“The materialistic demeanor [attitude] cannot possibly stretch to the transcendental autocrat [the Lord] who is ever inviting the fallen conditioned souls to associate with Him through devotional or eternal serving mood. The phenomenal attractions are often found to tempt sentient beings to enjoy the variegated position which is opposed to undifferentiated [variegated] monism [oneness, origin]. People are so much apt to indulge in transitory [temporary] speculations even when they are to educate themselves on a situation beyond their empiric [experienced] area or experiencing jurisdiction. The esoteric [internal] aspect often knocks them to trace out immanence (opposing to transcendence) in their outward inspection of transitory [temporary] and transformable things. ...”
I was astonished listening this record, Srila Prabhupada's voice was so much couching the heart with this highly deep, philosophical approach/presentation, and some kind of haughtiness.
We read further in this Forward: “... The lines of this booklet will surely help such puzzled souls in their MARCH towards the personality of immanent lying beyond their sensuous gaze of imperfection. The very first stanza of this publication will revolutionize their reserved ideas when the nomenclature of the Absolute is put before them as 'Krsna'...” And this first stanza, known to some of us, is as follows:
'isvarah paramah krsnah sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah
anadir adir govindah sarva-karana-karanam
“Krsna who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body, He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes.”
In purport we read about Lord Krsna: “... His eternal beautiful blue-tinged body glowing with the intensity of ever-existing knowledge has a flute in both His hands... The concentrated all-time presence, uncovered knowledge and inebriated felicity have their beauty in Him... His unrivaled or unique spiritual body of superexcellent charm is eternally unveiled with innumerable spiritual instruments (senses) and unreckonable attributes keeping their signifying location properly, adjusting at the same time by His inconceivable conciliative [purifying/pacific] powers ... This beautiful spiritual figure is identical with Krsna and the spiritual entity of Krsna is identical with His own figure...”,... and so one...
We can 'lose' ourself in this wonderful words/features of the Lord explained in this 'Sri Brahma Samhita', ...that is actually the aim of our life...
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 3'
06.04.2019 Considering HOME, the place of a residence and resident we think of our own (temporary) shelter, security, warmth, or so one. In relation to the eternity and the Supreme, His/Her Home, Residence, Abode, etc. is next explained in Brahma Samhita, as a place of 'Worship'.
To that Supreme abode leads many steps like on a 'Ladder' (Yoga Ladder): Within the limits of the Material World there are 14 spheres disposed in the graded order of low and high, of the three words: Bhuh, Bhuvah, Svah where those interested in fruitive actions are moving up and down. Brahmacaris of great austerities, ascetics and others adopting nonfruitive works, seeking freedom from mundane 'Desires' move up and down within the spares of Mahah, Janah, Tapah and Satya. Above lies the abode of Brahma, above which lies the residence of Vaikuntha of Ksirodakasayi Visnu lying in the ocean of milk. Paramahamsa Sannyasis (on the 1st Sankarsana level) by passing beyond 14 Words and Viraja (river, the Causal Ocean) enter the luminous world of Brahman attain to 'nirvana' in the form of temporary abeyance of the temporal ego. But the devotee actuated by knowledge (jnana-bhakta), the devotee actuated by the pure devotional aptitude (suddha-bhakta), the devotee imbued with loving devotion (prema-bhakta), the devotee actuated by pure love (premapara-bhakta), and the devotee impelled by overwhelming love (prematura-bhakta), who serve the majesty of Godhead, have their gradating locations in Vaikuntha (this is going one in relation with sadhana-bhakti, and Temple worship of Radha Krsna as Laksmi Narayan, which Srila Prabhupada established).
The devotees who are imbued with all-love and who walk in the footsteps of spiritual maids of Vraja (this is related to the higher, raganuga-bhakti, as the steps of a sannyasa on the 2nd Sankarsana level), attain to the realm of Goloka. The different locations of the devotees according to the respective differences in the nature of rasa, mellows quality (santa, dasya, sakhya, vatsalya, madhurya), are settled by the inconceivable power of Krsna. This is the seat of the rasa pastimes of the absolute Sri Krsna, Govinda.
The steps the devotee must pass through are long term effort to first accept the position of a servant of the Lord (and be trained in developing devotional service), and then continuing the service without offences come to the point of spontaneous devotion by following the residents of Goloka, where there is no question of offense.
Goloka as a Transcendental Abode, Residence, as a Place of 'Worship' of the Supreme Lord, Sri Sri Radha Krsna we will discuss in the next article.
”WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 4
13.04.2019 In this auspicious day of the Appearance of Lord Rama we will continue our discussion about the 'ETERNAL HOME' or the abode/place of Worship of the Supreme Lord Sri Sri Radha Krsna, where Bala-Rama is the mainstay of that energy.
Previously we passed through the steps of the Self-realization, through sadhana-bhakti (worship through the mantra) and raganuga-bhakti (spontaneous love). Now we will pass through Svetadvipa description, up to the 'Very Centre', where the actual 'Worship of the Lord' takes place.
Svetadvipa is a surrounding mysterious quadrangular outskirts of Gokula (the seat of transcendental love and devotion), divided into four parts on all sides, where Sankarsana, Pradyumna, Aniruddha and Vasudeva are separately located with piety, wealth, passion, liberation and four Vedas. and other attributes (Ten Tridents for protection, Eight Jewels, Ten Protective Directions in the form of a mantras, Four hues and the Extraordinary Potencies). The Paravyoma Vaikuntha is the outer covering of Goloka, at the sight of the eight perfections (viz. 'Anima', etc), and majesties ('Mahapadma', etc. treasures). In this wise Goloka has become unknowable and inaccessible. The divine forms of the Lord for the different ages, whose abode is Svetadvipa (described as Navadvipa village), can favour the approaching devotees who seek entry into the realm of Goloka through the channel of 'Pure Devotional Love'. Gokula (of Madhura) or Goloka are the one and the same indivisible entity (difference lies in infinite variety of sentiments; manifested and unmanifested pastimes), the place of a most hidden principle which only the greatest souls, who are enabled to realize by the direct grace of Krsna.
The superexcellent station of Krsna which is known as Golkula, has thousand of petals and a corolla like that of a lotus, the whorl of the leaves being the actual abode of Krsna. It is a hexagonal figure, the holy name consisting of eighteen transcendental letters is manifested there with sixfold divisions.
The transcendental Gokula is shaped like a lotus. The eternal world (Goloka) is like a hexagonal figure, in that the entities Sri Radha Krsna, appearing in the form of a mantra are centred. Sri Radha Krsna is the primary cause or the seed Himself/Herself.
This Top of the Top is the 'Goal' of our life, through our 'GRADUAL' process and progress...
Hare Krsna.
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 5'
26.04.2019 After the introduction of Radha Krsna, as the Supreme Lord, Adi Purusa - Govinda, whom we should worship with Gopala Mantra, the text is explaining Lord Maha-Visnu, as a subjective portion of Krsna, the manifestor of the mundane world.
The other side of Viraja river, which surrounds the Brahma-dhama, is forming the boudary of Maha-Vaikuntha, as the outer evelope of Goloka.
Maha-Visnu (primal 'Purusa-Avatara'), the pleanry portion of Maha-Sankarsana, lying on the Causal Ocean, casting His glance at deluding energy in the shape of sending His Time Energy, representing the force of activity and instrumentality, in creation of the material world. There the divine Sambhu - masculine symbol is situated and Maya (generation aspect) as a shadow of Ramadevi – the Spiritual ('Cit') potency (Yogamaya), where Maha-Visnu is 'purusa', the dominating divine person wielding the will.
The first phase of the appearance of the 'Mundane Desire' created by Maha-Visnu is the principle of 'mahat', or the 'Perverted Cognitive Faculty'. 'Pradhana', the principle of substantive mundane causality or the substantive principle in the shape of mundane entities, is the material principle. There appears mundane Ego ('Ahankara'), the Five Mundane Elements ('Bhutas') as Space, etc., their Attributes ('Tanmatras') and the Limited Senses of the conditioned Soul ('Jiva').
The Lord of the Mundane World, Maha-Visnu possesses thousands of thousands of heads, hands... He is the Source of thousands of Avataras (as the Prime Divine Avatara), and is a creator of thousands of thousands of Individual Souls. He reposes in the state of divine sleep ('Yoga-nidra', ecstatic trance of bliss).
He is spoken by the name 'Narayana' (who is not different from Lord Krsna, and is also the Divine Plenary Portion of the propagatory embodiment of Sri Krsna) in this mundane world. Maha-Visnu is the object of worship of the Hymns of all the Vedas.
Here the description of Maha-Visnu was presented, later we will hear about the other Forms of Visnu within this Material World, and Their functions for us – for our benefit.
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 6
10.05.2019 In this next session we are continuing to discover the 'Mysticism of the Lord'.
Previously Maha Visnu was explained as a source/creator of the Material World. He enters into each/innumerable Universe in His separate subjective portion, and as a divine guide from within, of all souls (Supersoul). From His right limb Maha Visnu created Sri Visnu (who is the regulator of all individual souls, and represents goodness; the Nourisher), from His right limb was created Brahma (the Creator and firs progenitor of beings; he represents passion), and from the space between MahaVisnu's two eyebrows comes Sambhu (the second Sambu, divine masculine manifested halo, he represents ignorance, the mundane Egoistic principle). Brahma and Sambhu are the demigods – dislocated portions, Visnu comes from the unalloyed essence the spiritual (cit) potency, Godhead Himself, described in the Vedas as being of the measure of a thumb. [The 'karmis' (elevationists) worship Him as Narayana, and yogis as Paramatma.] They all enter the Material World, playing the pastimes of 'Preservation', 'Creation' and 'Destruction' of this world.
At that time when Maha Visnu entered the Universe, the dormant (during the cataclysm at the end of the day of Brahma) 'Jivas' (who are eternal) were awakened with their former fruitive desires.
Just as the Sun is eternally associated with his rays, so the 'Lord is Eternally Joined with the 'Jivas''. The 'Jivas' are the 'Infinitesimal Atomic Particles of His Spiritual Effulgence' (they are therefore not perishable like mundane things), and 'Exhibit on a Minute Scale the Qualities of Divinity'.
That eternal relationship consists in this that Lord is the 'Eternal Master' and 'Jivas' are His 'eternal servants'. Being located on the line demarcating the spheres of the Spiritual and Mundane Potencies (named marginal potency 'tatastha'), the 'Jiva' (as very small in magnitude) is susceptible to the influence of the (powerful) Material Energy, but so long as he (she/jiva) remains 'Submissive' to the Lord, the Lord of Maya, he is not liable to the influence of Maya...
Haribol!
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 7
15.06.2019 We are continuing this meditation, here Brahma is initiated.
When Visnu lying on the ocean of milk wills to create this Universe, from His navel-pit springs a Golden ('Gold' – here means the dim reflection of pure cognition) Lotus, the abode of Lord Brahma.
This divine lotus is in every way related by the spiritual tie with all souls (that lotus entered into the hidden recess and is the superior plane of aggregation of all individual souls (that four headed Brahma derives his origin from the prototype Brahma – Hiranyagarbha).
… Brahma saw only darkness, then the goddess of learning Sarasvati gave him the Gopala mantra, 'kama-bija', to achieve love of Krsna – as located inherently in Gokula, however when pervertedly reflected in the worldly affairs – it also fulfils the heart desires of this mundane world (objects of worship of Mayadevi).
Brahma meditated for a long time upon Govinda: In a divine lotus situated in Goloka, Svetadvipa, there is a great golden throne on it's whorl, on which is seated the Lord, playing His flute...
Yet his meditation is not unmixed, but there is a stage of unmixed predilection even in devotion for the attainment of one's selfish desires. That is the essential method of divine service, prior to the attainment of self realization, by fallen souls.
Then Gayatri, mother of the Vedas, imparted, by the divine sound of the flute of Sri Krsna, entered into the lotus mouth of Brahma, through his eight ear-holes. In this way he attained the status of the 'Twice-Born', heaving been initiated by Godhead Himself.
Kama-Gayatri is the highest of all Gayatris, because the meditation and prayer contained in it are full of the perfect transcendental sportive activities, which are not to be found in any other Gayatri.
Whoever has received the same Gayatri in reality, has attained his spiritual rebirth, admission into the transcendental world, the highest of glories.
Enlightened by the recollection of that Gayatri, embodying the three Vedas, Brahma became acquainted with the expanse of the 'Ocean of Truth'. Then he worshipped Sri Krsna with the hymn of 'Brahma Samhita', we know.
'cintamani- prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vrksa...'
Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati writes here: “Readers are requested to study and try to enter into the spirit of his hymn with great care and attention, as a regular daily function”.
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 8'
21.06.2019 In this section Brahma describes Krsna in the Hymn/Tattva, which we know and chant, specially during initiations, yet here we have the meaning of it for meditation.
Brahma is worshipping... 'govindam adi-purusam, the primival Lord Govinda, who is tending the cows, in abodes build with spiritual 'cintamani' gems (spiritual element), surrounded by millions of purpose trees, served by millions of laksmis or gopis.
The graceful threefold-bending form of Syamasundara is tinged with the hue of the blue clouds, with peacock feather on His head, His flute 'venum', garland and jewel ornaments, who always reveals His pastimes of love.
Then the transcendental form of the Lord, as the 'Absolute Source', is explained as 'sat' – full of substantiality, 'cit' – full of truth-tattva, and 'ananda' – full of bliss, where each of the functions of His body possesses the full-fledged function of all other organs. His every limb is the whole 'Entity'. (whereas all mundane experiences are full of palpable ignorance, the 'Perverted' reflection – semblance of spirit).
In the next verse we hear that the Lord is inaccessible by the Vedas (which originate in Sound – the material element of Ether, therefore cannot present a direct view of the transcendental world – Goloka, only when the Vedas are imbued with the 'cit' potency then they can deal with spirit), but the Lord is obtainable by 'Pure Unalloyed Devotion' of the Soul (this devotion is surcharged with unalloyed transcendental knowledge, which reveals 'goloka-tattva').
The Lord is without second – 'Advaita', without beginning, without decay – 'Acyuta' (undivided whole, although from Him all emanates), endless, the beginning, and the 'Eternal' 'purusa', yet He is a 'Person' possessing the beauty of blooming youth.
Yogis and Jnanis approach only the tip of the toe of Lord Govinda's lotus feet (outskirts of His feet, not the lotus feet themselves).... It is not sufficient to destroy the condition of materiality but the real gain to the 'jiva' is his eternal existence in his 'Self-Realized' state.
In Krsna there is an 'Entity' which is termed 'cit' (spiritual) which is distinct from the principle of limitation. Although He creates the worlds, His potency remains inseparable.... All universes exist in Him – and He is present in every atom, at one and the same time,... although He is beyond human concept in His spiritual abode (simultaneous distinction and nondistinction – as 'Not' impersonal).
The devotees serve/worship the Lord by 'sukta- mantras' told by the Vedas, in 5 rasas (with the ingredients and objects befitting their respective rasa), by gaining their appropriate beauty (of their real nature), greatness, thrones, conveyances and ornaments... Those in 'Santa'- rasa attain the region of Brahma-Paramatma – the seat of eternal peace, those in 'Dasya' attain Vaikuntha – abode of Narayana, those in 'Sakhya', 'Vatsalya' and 'Madhurya' attain Goloka Dhama, Krsna's abode.
Brahma continues, I worship Govinda, residing in His own realm, Goloka with Radha, 'Resembling His Own Spiritual Figure', the 'Embodiment of the Ecstatic Potency' possessed of the sixty four artistic activities (for ex. art of singing, painting, gaining victory, or art of splashing with water..., existing unstintedly only on Goloka), in the company of Her confidantes (sakhis), embodiments of the extensions of her bodily forms, permeated and vitalized by His ever-blissful spiritual rasa.
The pastimes of the Lord are visible on mundane platform in Gokula, like Vrndavan, Madhura or Dvaraka – by the influence of the always pure 'cit' potency, or invisible (from mundane perspective) in Goloka Vrndavana in the spiritual sites (where they are visible, for those more self-realized). The distinction is only the 'Material Judgement'. The more the eye of devotion is tinged with the salve of love, the more the transcendental concept gradually manifest itself.
Haribol!
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 9'
28.06.2019 This is the second part of the 'Meditation' on the Brahma's Hymn ...'govindam adi-purusam'..., to better it appreciate.
Here Lord Govinda, Syamasundara, Krsna Himself is worshipped, whom the pure devotees see in their 'Hearts of Hearts' with the 'Eye of Devotion' (the eye of the pure unalloyed spiritual self of the 'jiva' – purified, on the stage of 'bhava-bhakti') tinged with the salve of love (trance).
The Syamasundara (not the blue colour, visible in the mundane world, but is the transcendental variegated colour affording eternal bliss, not visible to the mundane eyes, but by true devotee in his heart) form of Krsna, is His inconceivable simultaneous 'Personal and Impersonal Self-Contradictory Form'
(the Lord, manifested Himself personally as Krsna – with Vraja in this world, from Goloka, and His subjective portions as 'Avataras', viz. Rama, Nrsimha, etc. appear from Vaikuntha).
The Lord's effulgence is the source of the nondifferentiated Brahman (it is only the external effulgence emanating from the 'Boundary Wall' of the transcendental realm of Vaikuntha) mentioned in the Upanisads, being differentiated from the infinity of glories of the mundane universe (accommodating space, time and gross things) as the invisible, infinite, limitless, 'Truth' (residual entity).
The Lord, who is the substantive principle ('Unmixed' with gunas), is the ultimate reality in the form of the support of all existence, whose external potency embodies the mundane qualities of 'Rajas' (which generates all mundane entities) 'Sattva' (mundane manifestive principle; 'sattva' with 'rajas' maintains all entities), and 'Tamas' (destruction), diffuses the Vedic knowledge regarding the mundane world (it is the deluding energy who has elaborated the regulative knowledge – Vedas – on the gunas).
One (anyone) who is 'Unmixed' (with gunas) is absolute, cognitive bliss.
The Lord, ''Conqeror of All Mundane Hearts', whose glory dominates the mundane world by the activity of His own pastimes, reflected in the mind of recollecting (name, form, etc.) Souls, as the transcendental entity of ever-blissful cognitive 'rasa'.
Lowest of all is located Devi-Dhama (mundane world, of the separated particles) with their rulers, above is Mahesa-Dhama (abode of Mahesa-Siva), above is Hari-Dhama (abode of Hari, Vaikuntha – majesty), above is Krsna's realm named Goloka (all-sweetness).
In accordance with the Lord's will Maya conducts herself, who is of the nature of shadow of the 'cit' potency, and is worshipped as Durga ('durga' – prison house citadel, she is armed with 20 weapons representing various Pious Activities). Her duty is to purify all (forgetting service) 'jivas', deliver them by the will of Govinda.
Just as milk is transformed into curd by the action of acids, but yet the effect curd is neither same as, nor different from, its cause, milk, so Sambu (Siva) is Govinda's transformation for destruction (Godhead becomes a subservient when He Himself attains a distinct personality by the addition of a particular element of adulteration – delusion, this personality has no independent initiative, guna-avatara. He teaches pious duties – dharma, as stepping-stone to the attainment of spiritual service).
The light of one candle being communicated to other candles, although it burns separately in them, is the same in its quality. The Lord exhibits Himself eqally in the same mobile manner in His various manifestations as Hari, Narayana, Visnu-s, etc.. Govinda emanates Mahavisnu and other Visnu forms, and all other derivative subjective divine descendants (Avataras) such as Rama, etc. – in this analogy of light candles, 'Shining by the Operation of the Spiritual Potency of Govinda'...
… to be continued...
Haribol!
'WALK THROUGH “BRAHMA SAMHITA” Part 10'
05.07.2019 …'Govindam adi-purusam tam aham bajami'... This is the last part of Brahma's hymn/codes/worship, where he continues explanation of the Lord's creation, concluding with a beautiful description/vision of Svetadvipa – Spiritual Abode, and at the end Lord Krsna, Govinda satisfied with his prayer, reveals to him how to attain 'Unalloyed Devotional Service'.
Proceeding, Brahma pictures Maha Visnu, reposing in the Causal Ocean with the infinity of the world in the pores of His hair, who enjoys creative sleep [yoganidra], and Sesa as His servant. Brahma and other lords of the mundane worlds appear from the pores of hair of Maha Visnu – the portion of portion of Govinda.
Brahma receives his power from Lord Govinda for the regulation of the mundane world. Just like the Sun manifests his own light in all the effulgent gems 'suryakanta'.
Brahma is of two types: as eligible jiva acting in the office of Brahma, and created by Krsna avatara (descendent) of Divinity in the active mundane principle (rajo-guna).
Ganesa holds the lotus feet of Lord Govinda upon the pair of tumuli protruding from his elephant head. He has the power from the Lord, to destroy all obstacles to mundane prosperity.
The Three (mundane) Worlds are composed of the 'Nine Elements': Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether, Direction, Time, Soul and Mind (mental principle of subtle body: mind, intelligence and ego). All the principles that have been enunciated by all the speculative philosophers (tattva-vadis) are included in this Nine Elements, and Govinda is the source/origin of this principles (elements).
The Sun who is the king of all the planets, full of infinite effulgence, the 'Image of the Good Soul', is as the 'Eye of This World', and the Lord is ordering its journey, the 'Wheel of Time'. Certain professors of Vedic religion worship the Sun as Brahman.
By the Lord's conferred power are maintained the manifested potencies, that are found to exist, of 'All Virtues', 'All Vices', the 'Vedas', the 'Penances' and 'All Jivas'. The source of Sin is 'Nescience'.
The Lord 'Burns Up' to their roots 'All Fruitive Activities' of those who are imbued with Devotion, and impartially ordains for each the due enjoyment of the fruits of one's activities, of all those who walk in the path of work.
The meditators upon the Lord, by meditationg upon Him under the sway of Wrath, Amorous Passion, natural Friendly Love, Fear, Parental affection, Delusion, Reverence, and Willing Service, ...'attain to Bodily Forms Befitting the Nature of their Contemplation'...
Brahma concludes his prayer: “I worship that transcendental seat, known as Svetadvipa where as loving consorts the Laksmis in their unalloyed spiritual essence practice the amorous service of the Supreme Lord Krsna as their only lover; ...where every three is a transcendental purpose tree; ...where the soil is the purpose gem, ...all water is nectar, ...every word is a song, ...every gait is a dance, ...the flute is the favourite attendant, ...effulgence is full of transcendental bliss, ...and the supreme spiritual entities are all enjoyable and tasty, ...where numberless milk cows always emit transcendental ocean of milk; ...where there is eternal existence of transcendental time, who is ever present and without past or future and hence is not subject to the quality of passing away even for the space of half a moment. That realm is known as Goloka 'Only to a Very Few Self-Realized Souls in This World'”.
On hearing this hymns containing the essence of truth Krsna, pleased, revealed to Brahma how 'Pure Unalloyed Devotion' can be practiced by souls engaged in worldly occupations: It is attained by 'Cognition' of one's relationship to the Absolute, 'Service with Faith' (the realization will correspond to the nature/level of faith), by the method of 'Constant Endeavour' for Self-Realization with the help of Scriptural Evidence, Theistic Conduct (sadhus) and Perseverance in Practice. This preliminary practices of devotion (sadhana-bhakti) are conductive to the realization of 'Loving Devotion', in the shape of the 'Supreme Service'.
[Brahma Sampradaya]
Hare Krsna!
